Designate a Point-Person for Your Event
Having a person or group assigned to obtain the emergency evacuation plan is always beneficial. This person(s) should be on the same page as the person’s whose name is on the contract/rental agreement. Included in your plans, should be a person responsible for monitoring local weather patterns.
Keep Your Eye on The Sky
Under normal weather conditions, tents and structures provide an excellent haven for outdoor events. However, tents and structures are only temporary and are not intended to be occupied during extreme weather conditions. Thunder, lighting and wind storms pose a significant safety risk for tented events. Prior to your event, we recommend checking the website of (NOAA) the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for outdoor safety procedures.
Determine an Evacuation Destination
Should one of these types of storms arise, the best course of action is to evacuate the tent, with the safest place being an enclosed building. To do otherwise, would jeopardize the safety of you and your guests. There really is no alternative. Even if there is a small chance that someone could be injured, it is a chance that none of us should take.
